Help your child play, learn, and thrive

Children learn through play; when cognitive, physical, motor, or sensory challenges interfere with their ability to interact with others, it can affect their ability to learn. At MeBe, we provide Occupational Therapy for children in a fun and motivating environment to help your child develop the skills they need to play, learn, and thrive.

We provide center-based Occupational Therapy for children in San Diego, Carlsbad, National City, San Jose, and Seattle. We offer Telehealth Occupational Therapy for kids in many of our locations.

Foundational Skills

MeBe works closely with your child to build gross motor skills, fine motor skills, visual motor integration, sensory processing, sensory integration, and self-regulation. Your child’s Occupational Therapist will collaborate with the ABA Therapy and Speech & Language Therapy teams, for a holistic approach to developing critical foundational skills.

Telehealth Occupational Therapy allows us to address these foundational skills in your child’s natural home setting, and enables us to help families adapt their environments to best support their child’s needs. We work as a team to support your child’s success.

Occupational Activities

A child’s job is to play and to master activities of daily life. We understand the challenges that many children face with feeding and eating skills, dressing and grooming, play and leisure activities, social skills, and academic skills, and we’ll develop a custom plan that meets your child’s unique needs.

With Telehealth Occupational Therapy, we can work with your child in the comfort of home to address skills like feeding, dressing, handwriting, and more. Our Telehealth model centers around parent education to give you the tools necessary to help your child thrive.

Areas of focus

Sensory Integrative Therapy features sensory stimulation to improve attention and cognitive functioning, while decreasing disruptive or repetitive behaviors. Examples of vestibular stimulation activities include swinging, spinning, or bouncing, which can be stimulating for under-responsive children and calming for over-responsive or sensory-seeking children. Sensory interventions can also include weighted wear, compression, and deep touch pressure.

The Zones of Regulation® is a framework and curriculum for teaching children emotional and sensory self-management. Rooted in cognitive behavioral therapy, the Zones approach uses four colors to help students notice their body’s signals, detect triggers, read social context, and consider how their behavior impacts those around them. Your child can learn improved emotional control, sensory regulation, self-awareness, and problem-solving abilities.

Eating properly starts with developing oral motor skills such as latching during bottle feeding, chewing and swallowing safely, and drinking through a straw. Our multi-disciplinary approach to oral motor interventions helps to ensure your child can receive the nutrition necessary to thrive.

MeBe provides support for children who exhibit symptoms beyond picky eating. We understand how frustrating it can be when your child doesn’t want to eat a variety of foods and their nutrition is on the line. Our Feeding Clinic brings the fun back to family mealtime and helps your child experience the joy of exploring new foods.

Our Occupational Therapy program includes social skills training as well as tools for self-regulation. Your child will enjoy socializing with a group of their peers in a fun, comfortable environment supported by their therapy team.

Family support is a key component to success! Our Occupational Therapists work closely with your family to develop your child’s goals and treatment plan, and provide tips and techniques at every session that you can apply at home to help your child succeed.
