Speech and Language Pathologist

What is a Speech and Language Pathologist?

A Speech and Language Pathologist is a clinician who works to prevent, assess, diagnose, and treat speech, language, social communication, cognitive-communication, and swallowing (feeding) disorders.

SLPs at MeBe work with children as young as 14 months and young adults up to 18+ years of age. MeBe provides SLP services in several of our Learning Center locations and via Telehealth.

Qualifications for becoming a SLP

Master’s Degree in Speech/Language Pathology
ASHA CCCs and State Licensure required
Professional, outgoing, warm and friendly demeanor
Timely, organized, dependable
Ability to meet deadlines and coordinate communication with outside professionals

Responsibilities of a SLP

Management of a full-time caseload
Implement quality, evidence-based, individualized treatment and group treatment to promote a variety of skills in a fun and naturalistic play setting, as well as parent education and implementation of therapy
Build and gain rapport with family members, provide parent education to help increase therapy carryover
Record objective data to reflect client progress toward goals in daily SOAP notes, complete evaluations and reevaluations
Maintain effective communication with team members and supervisors

A professional child education therapist having a meeting with a kid in a family support center.

MeBe takes pride in providing the most up to date treatment methods and evidence based practice. We ensure our Speech Language Pathologists are set up for success and support our therapists in learning how to individualize each child’s therapy plan, how to incorporate families into therapy, and how to make every session fun!

We believe in a strong support network and have many SLPs on our team who specialize in apraxia of speech, autism spectrum disorder, AAC, feeding disorders, and much more.

MeBe frequently hires Clinical Fellows who have just recently obtained their degree in Speech and Language Pathology. As a Clinical Fellow at MeBe, you will be considered a full-time employee who works under close supervision for 36 weeks before taking on a caseload of their own.
